Comprehensive Psychoeducational Assessments

We offer a Child and Family centred approach to Psychological and Neuropsychological Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment of Learning and Mental Health Challenges.

While our Therapists can work effectively with children and families without a diagnosis, sometimes a full assessment is helpful in identifying or ruling out specific challenges to support a family’s understanding of their child’s strengths, challenges and exceptionalities. There are also times when a diagnosis is required for certain interventions and accommodations, or funding.

Our Psychologist Dr. Labao is highly skilled with excellent clinical judgement and offers a warm, down-to-earth approach to assessment.

Our Process – How It Works

Intake Session

At your first appointment Dr. Labao will gain a thorough understanding of your concerns and make recommendations about what to include in the assessment of your child. He will answer any questions you have and guide you through the process.

Testing Sessions

Dr. Labao will then meet with your child several times to help them feel comfortable and during this time your child will complete a series of standardized assessments. Together, these assessments will give Dr. Labao diagnostic information.

Feedback & Report

Dr. Labao will then meet with you to provide a thorough report and feedback. He will help you understand the findings of the assessment, answer any questions you have, and make recommendations for addressing the concerns.

Finding the right assessment for your family is important. During your intake session, if Dr. Labao thinks another psychological assessment may be more appropriate, he will discuss these options with you.

Total Timeline: 2-6 weeks from intake to report completion. Timing may vary depending on assessment type.

As with our Therapy Services, our Psychology Services are designed and delivered with the intention of providing a safe, supportive, caring and comfortable experience for your whole family.
